Prosecutor for Worcester District Attorney's Office Charged With OUI

A prosecutor with the Worcester County district attorney's office is accused of driving drunk with a 13-year-old girl in the car.

Massachusetts State Police said John O'Leary, 48, of Bolton, was arrested Monday evening on Route 140 in Shrewsbury and faces multiple charges, including OUI liquor, child endangerment and resisting arrest.

Authorities said they received a call just before 8 p.m. that an Audi A6 was erratically driving on Interstate 290 westbound, and that when a trooper found the car, he noticed the driver making multiple driving violations, including swerving between lanes.

When the Audi A6 eventually came to a stop on Route 140, the trooper asked the driver, later identified as O'Leary, to perform a field sobriety test.

O'Leary was arrested, despite his alleged attempts not to be put in the trooper's cruiser, according to police.

He was due in Westborough District Court on Tuesday after being bailed on a $40 bail fee.

The Worcester DA's office said O'Leary's employment will be "reviewed," and that the case will be handled by another district attorney; however, it's unclear who it will be at this time.
