Firefighters ripped through the ceiling of a building in Worcester, Massachusetts to gain access to a 3-alarm fire that was burning through a business overnight.
Fire crews responded to a blaze reported in the area of 271 Lincoln St., where smoke could be seen coming out of the building. First responders had to open the ceilings in order to access the fire, according to Worcester Fire Department District Chief, Tim Gardell.
Officials encountered heavy smoke on the first floor of the building and found a small fire in the basement. After officials knocked down that blaze, crews found a larger fire in the downstairs bathroom of a second building. Firefighters were able to douse that fire, as well.
Gardell said authorities believe the blaze began in the bathroom and the fire spread inside the building's walls.
No injuries were immediately reported in connection to the fire, according to Gardell. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
