A Worcester man was arrested after driving into firefighters responding to a call.
According to police in Worcester, Massachusetts, they received a medical call at about 5 p.m. Sunday. An officer responded to the area of 765 Main Street.
When the officer arrived, firefighters on scene told the officer that one of them had just been struck by a vehicle on Beacon Street. They had been responding to a report of a man passed out behind the wheel.
The suspect, identified by authorities as Kristopher Nater, 29, of 14 Tower Street, woke up and saw the firefighters walking toward him. He stepped on the gas and drove directly at them, police said.
The two firefighters jumped out of the way, but one of them was hit by the side of the car.
Nater continued driving down Hermon Street toward Main Street, police said.
According to police, they found Nater outside of his Toyota Camry on Main Street. He had an active warrant and did not have a license to operate a motor vehicle.

Nater was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, hindering a firefighter in the performance of duty, operating to endanger and operating after suspension of license.
He is scheduled to be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
It is unclear if he has an attorney.
