Worcester Officials Approve New Ballpark for Red Sox Triple-A Team

The city of Worcester, Massachusetts, has officially voted to build a new ballpark as the Red Sox' Triple-A affiliate prepares to move.

The Worcester City Council voted 9-1 on a deal to build a new home on an empty lot.

The public is being invited to the Worcester Common Oval at 5 p.m. Monday for an event with team officials, Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito, Rep. Jim McGovern and other special guests.

The Pawtucket Red Sox officially announced their intent to build a new ballpark in Worcester last month.
