World Series Reunites Xander Bogaerts With His Father After 23 Years

There are many powerful story lines flowing out of the Boston Red Sox' historic 2018 World Series title victory, including this piece today from Bleacher Report's Joon Lee on shortstop Xander Bogaerts reuniting with his father after more than two decades apart.

Bogaerts grew up in Aruba, raised primarily by his mother, Sandra Brown, along with his brother Jair and sister Chandra. Their father, Jan Maartens, left the family when Xander was just three years old, moving halfway across the world.

Some 23 years later, father and son have finally reconnected face-to-face.
