Couple Arrested After Luggage Fight at Fort Lauderdale Airport

Authorities say two deputies were injured and two people were arrested following a fight over luggage at a South Florida airport.

The man and woman, identified as 67-year-old Ida Shafir and 61-year-old Nick Bogomolsky, were taken into custody Tuesday morning at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, according to arrest reports.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a disturbance on a Delta Airlines flight, where a couple was arguing about their luggage with staff.

The arrest reports said the couple became upset when they were told they would have to check their carry-on bags for the full flight.

Officials say the couple began a physical fight with the deputies and were arrested.

Both deputies were taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.

The arrest reports list a Brooklyn address for Shafir and Bogomolsky, and the flight they were on was heading to New York's JFK Airport.

Officials say the man and woman face multiple charges, including battery on a law enforcement officer. Attorney information wasn't available.

A Delta spokesperson said the airline is working with law enforcement in the investigation.
