The groom is stranded in Boston. The bride is taking shelter in a soccer stadium in Houston. And their wedding, scheduled to take place in Texas this weekend, is now off.
"There's not going to be a wedding," Ednita Rosado said.
Raul Lopez, a Rhode Island native and Boston University alumnus, was in Massachusetts for his bachelor party weekend when Harvey made landfall late Friday along the Texas Gulf Coast. And as torrential rains continue to pummel the Houston area, Lopez can't get back home.
"Flights keep being canceled," he said. "I was hoping [Tuesday], looks like I won't be leaving till Wednesday."
According to flight tracking service FlightAware.com, as of Monday, more than 1,400 flights already have been canceled. That's in addition to more than 2,000 canceled over the weekend.
Meanwhile in Texas, Rosado and her soon-to-be mother-in-law are taking shelter at a soccer stadium. The two were caught in floodwaters when the bride-to-be was returning from the airport after picking up Lopez's mother.
"We made it one block and it was just water," Rosado said.

Rosado said they ended up spending two nights in gas stations before eventually finding safety at the soccer stadium where her cousin works. They remained stranded there Monday.
Rosado is now reaching out to friends and family to inform them that the wedding has been canceled because the venue is flooded.
"Very disappointing," said Rosado, noting it took two years to plan the event. "It's sad, I wish it didn't happen. There's nothing we can do, it's Mother Nature."
The venue has offered to rain-check the wedding and gave the couple several dates to choose from over the next six months.
