2 Planes Collide on Toronto Airport Tarmac; Firefighter Injured

No injuries on either plane were reported

Passengers were forced to evacuate on emergency slides and flamed erupted after two planes collided on the ground at Toronto's Pearson International Airport Friday night, NBC News reported.

An inbound WestJet flight from Mexico with 168 passengers and six crew was stationary and waiting to go to a gate when it was struck by a Sunwing aircraft moving back from the gate. Video footage from the WestJet shows flames on the wing of the Sunwing.

"Due to the position of the aircraft on the laneway, WestJet guests required evacuation via emergency slide. Emergency crews were on hand and responded immediately," Westjet said in a statement.

No injuries on either plane were reported, though one member of the airport's fire and emergency service was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment, a spokesperson for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority said in an email to NBC News.
