Students from Australia to the United States coordinated "school strikes" to protest inaction on climate change. Thousands of students clogged the streets of Berlin, Vienna, Helsinki and others. Events were planned in over 2,000 cities, according to a website used to coordinate the strikes.
The school strikes was inspired by 16-year-old environmentalist, Greta Thunberg, when she started holding solitary protests outside the Swedish parliament. Her solo protests led to a handful of cities before spreading to hundreds others.
