‘That's Pretty Miraculous': Man Shot 15 Times Walks Into Philadelphia Emergency Room

The 27-year-old is in critical condition, but is expected to survive

Philadelphia police say a man who was shot 15 times walked into a hospital emergency room and is expected to survive.

The shooting unfolded just before 12:30 a.m. Friday on the 1700 block of Tilghman Street, in the city's Kensington section, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

Police found 23 spent shell casings from large caliber bullets on the scene, but no victim. That's when word came about a gunshot victim at Temple University Hospital.

"He walked into the hospital. That's um, that's pretty miraculous," Small said, adding that it was not immediately clear whether someone had dropped off the victim at the hospital before he walked into the emergency room or if he had gotten there on his own.

Small said the 27-year-old is in critical condition, but is expected to survive. His name has not been released.

Authorities were checking surveillance video from surrounding homes for possible clues.

No arrests have been made.
