A 37-year-old man was arrested Monday after a standoff with police that stemmed from a dispute with his parents.
Police in Pelham, New Hampshire responded to a call at 5:20 p.m. of a man who alleged his son had threatened to shoot his parents. Upon arriving at the residence on Currier Road, they learned that Justin Levasseur allegedly brandished a gun at his parents before he barricaded himself in the home.
Levasseur’s father blocked a bedroom door so his wife could jump out a window before he was able to flee. He claimed he heard shots fired as he ran from the scene.
Police evacuated nearby residents as they attempted to negotiate with Levasseur. At approximately 9 p.m., the suspect voluntarily turned himself in. He was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was charged with simple assault, criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and a felon in possession of a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court Tuesday.
The suspect’s mother was taken to Lowell General Hospital for an unknown injury. Her husband refused medical treatment.
