Opera Man is Back: Adam Sandler Returns to Host ‘SNL' on May 4

In the early 1990s, Sandler was one of SNL’s biggest stars

You can go home again. Adam Sandler is returning to 30 Rock for his debut as a "Saturday Night Live" host on May 4. Sandler will be joined by musical guest Shawn Mendes.

"We are happy to welcome Adam back to SNL in what is sure to be a special night," executive producer Lorne Michaels told the Hollywood Reporter.

In the early 1990s, Sandler was one of SNL’s biggest stars. He joined the "Saturday Night Live" team as a writer in 1990. One year later, he became a breakout star with characters like Opera Man and Canteen Boy.

Sandler was fired from SNL after the 1994-95 season suffered from low ratings. Since then, he has made a couple of cameo appearances with his most recent one being in 2015 for SNL’s 40th anniversary special.

Sandler recently struck a huge deal with Netflix. His latest stand-up special, "100% Fresh," can be found on Netflix and his next movie, "Murder Mystery," is set to debut on Netflix later this year.
