Tens of thousands rallied Saturday as part of the March for Our Lives demonstration in Washington, D.C.
There are more than 800 marches across the country, including a major one in Boston, and plenty of Massachusetts residents were on hand in Washington.
NBC10 Boston's Perry Russom reported live from the nation's capital to cover the scene.
"I think the legislators will pay attention to what happens here in Washington," said Dick Driscoll of Westford. "The others are going to be supportive, but the one that's going to send the message is the one from Washington."
About 100 Boston students boarded buses late Friday night to head down to the capital.
Earlier Friday, more buses and planes dropped off demonstrators who are hoping to make history, creating their own future by calling for an increase in school safety.
"I personally don't feel like there is any reason that people need assault rifles," said Linda Pixley, who flew in with her son from Des Moines, Iowa.
The march is part of the movement demanding changes to the nation's gun laws inspired by the survivors of the Majory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre that left 17 students and faculty members dead in Parkland, Florida, on Feb. 14.
