Mohammed Muntari scored the first goal for host country Qatar with a spectacular header, but it was not enough to overcome Senegal's three goals, ending the match in 1–3. The loss led to Qatar becoming the first team eliminated in the group stage.
The final matches of the day both ended in draws. The face-off between the Netherlands and Ecuador ended in a 1–1 tie with goals scored by the Netherlands' Cody Gakpo and Ecuador's Enner Valencia.
