Armed Man in ‘Breaking News' Sweatshirt Robs Boston Bank

The robber handed the bank teller a blue hard hat along with a note demanding money

A bank robber seemed to know he would make headlines on Monday in Boston.

The armed thief, who made off with an unknown amount of money from Berkshire Bank in the South End, wore a sweatshirt that said "breaking news" during the crime, authorities said.

The robber also brandished the weapon to the bank teller and handed them a blue hard hat along with a note demanding money, according to authorities.

Police arrived after 9 a.m., but the suspect had already left the bank on foot.

The suspect is described as black, of medium build and about 5-foot-7. Besides the sweatshirt, he was wearing jeans, black gloves with white writing, a backpack, tan work boots, a dark bandana or scarf on his head along with sunglasses and some kind of tape over his nose.
