We’re ringing in 2023 the way we left 2022: with more mild air. Rain has departed, and the drier air will work in on the heels of a gusty northwest wind. Rain showers tonight (Saturday) will stop around 2 a.m., making way for mild temperatures and sunshine tomorrow.

As we say goodbye to 2022, Boston’s making sure it’s going out with a bang. First Night 2023 kicked off today with a parade on Boylston Street, and now the countdown to midnight starts at Copley Square.

Record-setting New Year’s temperatures, and rain showers will continue through midnight tonight (Saturday), with showers ending at 2 a.m. tomorrow. New Year’s Day will be bright with temperatures in the low 50s. Colder weather expected this upcoming Thursday and Friday.

Getting into the city today for the holiday? Many said it was smooth sailing, despite warnings from the MBTA that repairs on multiple Orange Line could force delays up to 15 minutes.

It’s a two-day family event that stretches all the way from the Prudential Center to the Boston Common. Boston’s annual “First Night” celebration kicked off today, with the annual parade kicking off at 6 p.m. Additional festivities include a fireworks show at 7 p.m., and live music in Copley Square until the big countdown at midnight.
