There are snow advisories in effect in more than 36 of the lower 48 United States this morning, including winter weather advisories for much of New England Wednesday night to early Thursday.
In the eastern United States, we have two low-pressure systems. One is headed into the Great Lakes states, and another off the mid-Atlantic states. It looks like they separate from one another rather quickly as they cross New England late Wednesday night. That’s why we are getting a relatively minor impact event.
We have another cold start Wednesday morning with temperatures near 0 degrees in several spots, warming up to about freezing Wednesday afternoon. A few hours of sunshine this morning will fade behind clouds this afternoon. Wind is mostly light and variable.
Snow arrives in New York City before sunset, advancing steadily across southern and western New England after the sun goes down. Arriving on the eastern shore and in Maine by midnight.
Much warmer air is moving in up in the sky, so we are only going to get a few hours of snow before a change to sleet and freezing rain for much of western and southern New England. That means about 2 inches of snow for many, most of it falling while we are asleep. The exception is much of New Hampshire and Maine, where snow will continue through the morning commute.
The mountains of New Hampshire and Maine likely get five or more inches of snow.

Thursday turns into a nice day with sunshine breaking out quickly in the morning and a little later in Maine. High temperature in the 40s to near 50 degrees south and 30s and 40s north.
Low pressure intensifies as it moves away Thursday night and Friday. That means wind increases and the temperature falls back down to the 20s at night, and 30s for a high on Friday with a good amount of sunshine.

Saturday looks like a bright seasonable day, highs near 40 degrees. Another storm system advances quickly Sunday with a wintry mix quickly changing to rain for much of New England. High temperature in the 40s. That storm also causes the wind to pick up Monday, with gusts over 45 mph possible.
We should have a good amount of sunshine on Monday, with a high temperature in the 30s. High pressure goes right over us on Tuesday, with nice weather and high temperature in the 30s.
