Band of Rain Taking Aim at Region During Evening Commute

Early sunshine on Thursday will gradually fade behind increasing clouds and some afternoon showers.

With the help of the sun during the first half of the day and a gusty southwest wind, temperatures will top out near 80 degrees. A band of rain will arrive first around midday, in Northern New England. It will then slide south and east, arriving in Worcester and Boston as people head home from school and work.

The rain will move out Thursday night, with skies clearing and lows dropping into the 40s and 50s for many.

Friday is then sunny and beautiful with highs in the 70s.

Temperatures spike yet again on Saturday, back close to 80. Early sunshine will mix with a few more afternoon clouds as another front approaches. That may trigger a spot afternoon shower, especially north and west, but most places will stay dry.

Behind the front on Sunday, expect a return to sunshine and highs around 70. It will be coolest at the coast thanks to an onshore wind.

Early in the week it will still be cool, with 60s for many, but a push of warmth is possible mid-week. By then we’ll likely pop into the 80s. Just how far north the warm air makes it depends on the location of a warm front.
