    What to Know

    • TODAY: Temperatures have dropped a bit, but our say should still be humid.

    • TOMORROW: Showers possible Saturday as the core of the storm moves ahead

    • LOOKING AHEAD: Sunday will offer comfortable conditions, but not for long.

Severe thunderstorm watches and warnings have been issued across New England as active weather hits Friday afternoon.

We started the day warm and muggy with areas of fog near our coastlines. The fog will burn off by late morning for most and clouds will start bubbling up by the lunch hour. Temperatures will be in the low 80s, but once again feel warmer under this tropical air mass.

A front approaches Western New England into the early afternoon and will act on moist, unstable air to the Southwest, bringing us the potential of severe thunderstorms. We’ll certainly see heavy downpours and gusty winds. Low-level rotation is even possible through Western Massachusetts into Northern and Southwestern Connecticut.

Eastern New England remains largely dry through the day Friday, and by the time the line of storms edges towards Boston, it will have lost steam and much of the severe potential.

Showers and downpours are possible again Saturday as the core of this storm moves overhead.

It remains humid, especially south, on Saturday but humidity takes a dive Sunday, leaving us with more comfortable conditions. Monday remains less humid, but the comfortable conditions are short-lived as humidity builds back in Tuesday, renewing our stormy and steamy pattern for the rest of the week.
