Crisp Fall Air in The AM Before Temps Rise

Today (Friday): Sunny and crisp. Highs in the 60s. Overnight Friday Night: Slowly increasing clouds under a full moon. Lows around 50. Saturday: Becoming mostly cloudy, chance shower late. Highs around 70. Sunday: Mostly sunny and warm. Highs around 80. (Published Friday, Sept. 13, 2019)

High pressure from Canada is large and in charge for New England Friday.

A high barometer reading often means a low thermometer reading. Yes, it’s a chilly start with patchy frost and northern New England again. With plenty of blue sky and sunshine, we should rebound well into the 60s. A few places will hit near 70 degrees in western and northern New England.

Wind from the northeast gusting at 10 to 15 mph keeps it a little cooler in southern and eastern New England.

We’ll have a beautiful, clear sky for the full harvest Moon Friday night. Low temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s south, 30s and 40s north, with a patchy frost once again.

A front will approach from the west Saturday, with increasing clouds after a dry start. A few showers are possible west and north before the sun goes down. High temperature close to 70 degrees.

A period of rain or showers with fog and drizzle is likely Saturday evening and overnight. That will hold the temperature a little warmer in the 50s and 60s.

A wave of low pressure on the front may cause Sunday to start wet in southern and eastern New England, but we expect increasing sunshine for most with a high temperature close to 80 degrees. Another cold front from Canada comes through Sunday night with a few showers into Monday.

It will be cooler with highs in the 60s and low 70s Monday and Tuesday with a return to sunshine for the middle of the week.

The extended forecast is very challenging since we’re going to have some rather cold air in southeastern Canada and hot air over the mid-Atlantic states. It’s tough to say which side of the front will be on in New England. In addition, we may have tropical storm on Humberto near the southeastern United States.

We will have to keep an eye on that also for the end of the week. Stay tuned to the latest First Alert 10-Day Forecast.
