Thickening clouds over New England were the first sign of approaching moisture – developing rain will be the result, particularly from middle to late afternoon onward.

Two separate foci for rain will traverse our six-state region: one will deliver a shield of steady rain to Southern New England and the other will bring blossoming afternoon downpours to the North Country.

At first, the northern downpours will be the heaviest rain producers in New England, but as those subside overnight, Southern New England rain will continue and become heavy for a time in far Southern New England, where it’s possible we see rain totals of a couple inches on the Islands and the Cape, and significantly lesser amounts farther northwest, like the Massachusetts Turnpike region.

Tuesday dawns with a northeast wind holding clouds stubborn with a few showers early, though some sunny breaks are likely by day’s end. Wednesday and Thursday look fantastic with highs in the 80s before an unsettled pattern favoring afternoon scattered thunderstorm development settles in from Friday onward into the start of next week in the exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day forecast.
