The up-and-down temperature pattern continues, but it's looking up to start Memorial Day weekend.

Of late, it seems like every day is 10 or 15 degrees cooler, or warmer, than the previous day. We keep the trend going today and tomorrow.

A secondary cold front of generated powerful thunderstorms in eastern Maine yesterday is easing across the waters of New Hampshire and eastern Massachusetts early this morning.

Starting temperatures range from about 55 or 60 degrees, while northern Maine cools to 32 degrees with a frost advisory to start the day.

Any leftover clouds or sprinkles in southeastern New England evaporate quickly as high pressure from Canada takes control. But with sunshine even in the cool air mass, we can warm up to 70 degrees or better by afternoon, even as we're only in the 50s to low 60s at the shore, with an onshore breeze at 15 mph.

Mostly clear skies make for a pretty night with a waxing gibbous moon, temperatures overnight tonight dip to the 40s and 50s once again, but this time we have warmer air moving back in. With sunshine, many spots are 85 to 90 degrees by tomorrow afternoon.

The weekend sees another significant temperature change. A combination of a warm front of the Great Lakes states in the cold front over Ontario will merge for a chance of showers and thunderstorms in northern New England Saturday afternoon, but for most of us it becomes more humid with a mixture of sun and clouds and a high temperature close to 90 degrees again in central and southern New England.

Low pressure along the front brings in clouds and showers for most of New England Saturday night and off and on Sunday, with temperatures only in the 60s for most of us on Sunday.

The front may move offshore for some sunshine on Monday, if that happens we're back in the 70s, otherwise, if clouds with a few showers linger, we are still in the 60s.
