Cold to Continue With Brisk Breeze in New England

It’s nowhere near as cold as it was in Minnesota and Illinois Wednesday, but we are in the heart of the cold outbreak for New England. It’s not as cold as it was last Monday morning with temperature starting near 0 degrees, but the wind is gusting past 30 mph and creating a wind chill that is 20 below zero and colder.

Sunshine mixes with clouds with a few flurries Thursday, high temperature near 10 degrees north and in the teens to near 20 degrees south. Wind diminishes a bit Thursday afternoon.

Cold high pressure goes overhead Thursday night with lighter wind in a mostly clear sky. Low temperature below zero north, to just about 0 degrees or a little warmer south.

It’s another cold day Friday, but at least we’ll make it up to 20 degrees central and north, and in the 20s south. The wind remains brisk from the west at 15 to 20 mph.

A weak front approaches northern New England Saturday with increasing clouds and a chance of light snow near the Canadian border. Partly to mostly sunny south with a high temperature in the 20s Saturday afternoon.

The northernmost mountains get a few inches of snow Saturday night. Sunday the sun returns for most, with a high temperature in the 30s. This may be one of the best ski weekends of the season.

A warm front lips across northern New England Sunday night with another period of snow possible at the ski areas and we all warm up to the 40s Monday afternoon into Tuesday and Wednesday.

There will be lot of clouds around with a chance of some rain showers west and north at some point. It looks like the next cold front comes through Thursday morning, with a bit of rain perhaps ending as snow especially in the hills and return to seasonable temperatures for Thursday and Friday.
