Some Snow, Rain Showers on the Way This Weekend

A fresh northwest breeze is ensuring an already cool Canadian air mass with highs around 30 that feel even colder, with wind chill values around 20 south and even colder north.

The dry air in place is bringing plentiful sunshine and after a dry and cold overnight will give way to increasing clouds Friday and another cool day in the 30s.

A few disturbances are lined up for New England in the coming days — each with gradually increasing warmth and moisture. The first will move through Friday evening and overnight, dropping a few inches of fresh snow in our mountains, and delivering an overnight snow shower farther south.

Behind this disturbance, enough mild air moves in for highs near 50 in southern New England Saturday with a few scattered rain showers, but not a steady rain.

The next system moves northeast into New England on Sunday and delivers a steady rain to most communities, but enough cold air will be in place for more accumulating snow in northern New England Sunday.

Next week we’ll find a continued pattern of occasional disturbances every few days, bringing swings in temperature with brief warming ahead of them and shots of cooler, drier air behind each one in our exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day forecast.
