Warm southwest winds continue in New England Wednesday. That means not only is it warm, but it’s also humid.
The humidity is enough to result in areas of fog, clouds and spotty drizzle early Wednesday morning with temperatures starting out warm for this time of year. With temperatures resting at 65 to 70 degrees, it's certainly warmer than the normal highs for mid-October.
As the sun gets higher in the sky, we have another day of highs in the 70s and low 80s where breaks of sun overcome morning clouds and another day of noticeable humidity.
One exception will take place during the afternoon. A cold front will be on the move southward through Maine. This front will send afternoon and evening temperatures tumbling from north to south in the Pine Tree State and eventually spreading that cool air into Central and Eastern New England Wednesday night.
All the while, a storm center is drawing east through Canada, with rain and thunder to it's south and snow to its north. That center also brings along the clash of warm and cool air to deliver rain to New England Thursday into the night. The heaviest rain is anticipated in the later portion of the day when a few strong thunderstorms are possible.

For most of us, we expect 1/2 to 1 inch of rain. The exception may be along the south coast, where rain may continue into early Friday as moisture from Hurricane Michael briefly enhances the rainfall.
But rain should exit for most early Friday, followed by sweeping cool fall air across New England for a fair weekend ahead of continued fall temperatures and a rebuilding chance of showers next week in the exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day forecast.
