Independence Day

Extreme Heat, Humidity on Tap Today

Extreme heat for today. Today marks day 3 of 90-degree weather.

Heat will turn wicked inland going into the week. Dew points will climb to around 70 degrees, giving us heat indices of 100- to 110-degrees. This will likely turn into a dangerous stretch for inland communities.

An isolated thunderstorm is possible any afternoon with the heat and high humidity. In this environment thunderstorms will quickly pulse up and down within an hour. The coverage of these thunderstorms will be very isolated. However, if you do see a thunderstorm Sunday or Monday, it could produce very heavy rain and gusty winds.

Temperatures do drop after Independence Day. Highs will be closer to average in the low to mid 80d. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible, but we should have nice enough weather to head to the beach once again next weekend.
