Seasonably cool high pressure moved in Monday night, offering up a beautiful Tuesday for New England.
With plenty of sunshine on Tuesday, high temperatures will be pretty close to 60 degrees, cooler to the north, with a breeze from the north at 10 mph. it’s going to be clear and chilly overnight with low temperature in the 40s and 50s south, 30s and 40s north.
We’re tracking two fairly weak weather systems: one coming across southeastern Canada and another coming across the southeastern United States. These two rather week systems are going to merge into one big powerful system late Wednesday and especially Thursday.
The impact for New England will be heavy wind and rain Wednesday night and Thursday, but at least this system is going to move faster than the one from last week. This one is closer to the coast though, so we include all of New England in this week's storm.
Clouds increase from west to east on Wednesday, with temperatures close to 60 degrees tending to cool off in the afternoon with the clouds. Rain arrives in Western New England before the sun goes down then spreads east becoming heavy at times overnight.
We’re going to have rapidly strengthening low pressure cross in Cape Cod first thing in the morning Thursday. Ahead of the system, wind from the southeast will be blowing at 30 to 40 mph. Then, there may actually be a calm briefly near the center of the storm in eastern Massachusetts early in the day, before wind picks up from the northwest gusting past 55 mph.
In southern New England, the rain part of the storm is pretty much done early in the morning, but with a lot of clouds and spot showers, it is a windy and chilly day. Temperature in the morning will be around in the 40s, with breaks of sunshine in the afternoon and will get to the low 50s.

For much of Maine, it’s going to be a windy day with rain heavy at times. Gusts from the southeast may top 50 or 60 mph, especially near the shore.
In Vermont and New Hampshire, it is a little bit less windy but mostly cloudy with periodic rain, possibly changing to snow in the higher mountains during the afternoon and evening.
We are all windy and cold Thursday night, with snow showers in the mountains. Otherwise, we’ll be drying with a low temperature in the 40s south, 30s north.
The storm is gone Friday, increasing sunshine and decreasing wind, with temps close to 60 degrees.
