Although heat continues across New England Wednesday, there are some subtle changes that make a difference.

A sea breeze will kick up along our shorelines, bringing temperatures back into the 80s after highs near 90 at our beaches.

Though the interior will warm into the lower and middle 90s, a slightly less humid air has moved southward to around the Massachusetts Turnpike, making things a bit more comfortable for those not in far Southern New England.

Scattered downpours may develop along the leading edge of the slightly less humid air, and in the humidity, but that will be from early afternoon into the evening, then waning in time for thunderstorms.

    Weather Forecast: Plenty of Sunshine

[NECN] Weather Forecast: Plenty of Sunshine

Today (Independence Day): Hot, less humid north of the MA Pike. Isolated early/mid-afternoon downpour south of the Pike. Highs 90-95°.
Fireworks This Evening: Partly cloudy and warm, 75-80°.
Overnight Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows around 70.
Thursday: Very humid, hot. Highs around 90.

The same disturbance that triggered scattered storms Tuesday afternoon will be responsible for scattered afternoon and early evening downpours in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Southeast Massachusetts today, but with less moisture available in the atmosphere, most thunderstorms and showers will be done by fireworks time, meaning a classic mid-summer evening is in store across all six New England states for fireworks time.

Humidity is set to return Thursday, and this will not only drive the heat index back near 100 degrees but also will bring a chance of widely scattered thunder farther north during the afternoon.

By Friday, a cold front delivers a period of rain and thunder that finally ushers in more comfortable, pleasant air for the weekend before new heat builds next week in our exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day forecast.
