    Mostly Clear and Calm

Overnight Thursday: Mostly clear and calm. Lows in the 60s, 50s north.

Friday: Sun to clouds, scattered thunder develops. Highs in the 80s.

Less humid air is steadily moving across Northern New England Thursday and northern residents will really feel the difference by this afternoon. Meanwhile, Southern New England remains in soupy air.

Near the boundary between these two types of air – from Mid-coast Maine to Massachusetts – there’s a 20 to 30 percent chance of a shower Thursday, but most of us will remain rain-free.

The lower humidity will bleed southward near the Massachusetts and New Hampshire border Thursday evening. Central and Northern New England will enjoy somewhat more comfortable sleeping Thursday night. However, humidity will begin battling back Friday.

At first, returning humidity will likely produce Western and Northern New England pockets of showers Friday morning.

As the day wears on, the showers will develop farther south and east, eventually bringing scattered showers and thunder through most of New England by late day. Some evening thunderstorms could be strong and damaging.

With humidity back in place, Saturday will deliver scattered showers and thunder for most except the North Country, where drier air starts moving back in after morning showers.

Sunday brings cooler and less humid air for all. Although there is a chance of showers Sunday and Monday, the chance appears to be rather low at this time.

Next week, for the most part, looks fair, save for scattered thunder Wednesday in our exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day forecast.
