Be Cautious of Morning Event in Weather

Today (Friday): Heavy rain and wind southeast this morning, sun by afternoon. Busy wind. Highs in the 60s, 50s north. Overnight Friday Night: Clouds return. Lows in the 40s, 30s north. Saturday: Morning showers to partial clearing. Brisk. Highs in the 50s. Sunday: Wispy cloudy. Highs around 60. (Published Friday, Oct. 12, 2018)

Bands of rain added up to an inch or two in many locations overnight. Rainfall was generated by several fronts with waves of low pressure that are mostly moving offshore Friday morning.

But we still have one more batch of rain along the northern edge of what is left of once-Hurricane Michael. Rain associated with Michael as it passes offshore to our south may be heavy at times in Southeastern Massachusetts, parts of Rhode Island, and parts of Connecticut very early.

Skies will quickly become sunny from west to east for most, and after lunch on Cape Cod and in eastern Maine, with temperatures in the 50s and 60s. High pressure from Canada makes for a cold Friday night, setting up for some chilly showers with an upper-level disturbance tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow afternoon should brighten, with highs struggling through the 50s and some low 60s south.

Skies should be brighter Sunday thanks to high pressure building in. Into next week, temperatures stay close to, or a bit below, normal.

Fenway Park and Gillette Stadium look dry for the games with temperatures more fitting for football than baseball, but no one seems to be complaining.
