Major Warm-up On Way to New England

An upper level low pressure responsible for a few inches of snow in the mountains last night is still over New England, resulting in a brisk mix of sun and clouds this afternoon.

Temperatures are in the 40s to lower 50s, wind from the northwest gusting past 30 mph.

A fairly chilly high-pressure system from Canada crosses New England tonight with a mostly clear sky and spotty frost by Sunday morning. Low temperature in the 20s north and 30s south. Wind from the west remaining a little bit brisk.

With high-pressure cresting right over New England, our Sunday looks beautiful. After a chilly start, the temperature should climb steadily into the 50s north and 60s south, close to 70° in the Connecticut River Valley.

Wind tomorrow coming in from the southwest 10-20 mph, keeps it a little cooler near the shore, and there's a chance of localized sea breezes even on the east facing shoreline.

High pressure to our south will supply warmer air and sunshine for most of Monday and Tuesday. A weak front near the Canadian border may generate clouds in northern most New England with a chance of a shower on Tuesday. But for most of us it is mostly sunny with a high temperature in the 70s Monday, and lower 80s on Tuesday.

We will challenge record warm highs for much of New England on Tuesday before the next front arrives at night.

A cold front slowly eases southward in New England on Wednesday with many clouds and a few showers, high temperature in the 60s south and 50s north.

That front weakens and stalls near southern New England with a chance of showers off and on Thursday and Friday, but for most of us there is insignificant rain in the next seven days. That is good news because rivers are running near bank-full now, and many fields are flooded, the water levels should be receding with this nice stretch of warm and mostly dry air.
