    What to Know

    • Expect mild temperatures this afternoon as the mercury climbs into the 40s.

    • The early workweek will be seasonably cool. A chance of snow is possible on the Cape and Islands.

    • The region could see record-breaking temperatures later this week.

Today will be milder with mostly cloudy skies and a few rain or snow showers around. There is a higher probability for snow showers away from the coast. Temperatures will climb into the middle 40s during the afternoon.

Monday will be sunny and seasonably cool with highs in the mid 30s. It’s possible that a coastal storm may brush the Cape and Islands will a little light snow Monday night. Our weather turns unsettled again on Tuesday and could linger through Wednesday. Interior New England will likely see another round of snow while the coast should see mainly rain. Speaking of snow, our friends at the National Weather Service in Caribou tweeted out an interesting statistic. Caribou has received a record amount of snow for the season so far with 101.9 inches, meanwhile Boston has near-record LOW snowfall with only 1.8 inches to date. The mountains have experienced a tremendous season so far.

Cold weather will return Thursday and Friday. This cold snap could rival the one last week. Temperatures could dip below zero at night and stay in the single digits during the day. Records could be broken once again. It’s likely that we will see wind chills in the double digits below zero.

It won’t be as cold for next weekend and the weather (at this point) looks fairly quiet. Unsettled, warmer weather will make a return early the following week. If you live along the 95 corridor from New York City to Boston – significant snow is unlikely for the next 10 days.
