High pressure to our south, low pressure to our north means we'll see another day with high temperatures of 95 to 100 degrees. The heat index values, the combined heat and humidity, will rest over 100 degrees for the majority of Central and Southern New England, with Northern New England only a few degrees behind.

A cold front slowly sinks south Wednesday night and Thursday, and for a, change there will be few thunderstorms with this front. By Wednesday afternoon and evening, the chance of spot thunder rises in Northern New England.

The front closes in from the north and that front will press slowly into Central and Southern New England Thursday, elevating the chance of scattered thunder there.

Behind the late week cold front, temperatures will turn markedly cooler by Friday – highs only in the 70s for many – with much less humid air persisting through at least the first half of the Labor Day weekend.

Some showers can’t be ruled out Saturday. Then, warmth will gradually build back into the region with highs returning to the 80s by Labor Day Monday with a chance of afternoon thunder. Highs should hover near or just above 80 for much of next week in the exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day forecast.
