The weather system responsible for a few areas of heavy rain in New England Tuesday has settled just off to the south Wednesday morning.
It’s not far enough for total clearing in southern New England, though, but enough so that most of us get a dry day with a lower humidity.
The hardest hit on Tuesday was Nantucket Island with 3 inches of rain and flooding, and where we may still have a few hours left of rain drops before clouds thin out. Also in the state of Connecticut, air is unstable enough for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm.
On a line from Hartford to Boston, and points south, we are mostly cloudy. To the north, we get a mostly sunny, beautiful Wednesday. High temperatures will be in the 70s to near 80 degrees, cooler on the east facing shore with a breeze coming in from the northeast to 10 to 15 mph.
The front stalled south of us does not move very far, but high pressure from Canada is mostly in control of our weather through Thursday. That keeps us in comfortably cool weather Wednesday night, with a big bright full moon. Low temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s north, to 60s south.
Thursday features a good amount of sunshine, but a few showers are possible in the afternoon. High temperatures in the 70s near 80 degrees once again.
A warm front will come through on Friday with a few showers or a thunderstorm. High temperature will return to the lower 80s.

This weekend, there is a front stalled more to our west and north, with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm each afternoon, especially in western and northern New England. Clear the Shelters Saturday is dry most of the day with high temps in the lower 80s. It will be cooler at the beaches.
On Cape Cod, the Falmouth Road race is Sunday, it’ll be very humid with a chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm, high temperature in the 80s.
Next week looks summery with a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm pretty much each day, high temperature in the 80s.
