    What to Know

    • The mercury drops into the mid-30s in some areas tonight.

    • Several areas could see their first frost of the season so protect any outdoor plants that are sensitive to cold temps.

    • Expect lots of sun on Sunday with Fall-like temperatures all day.

A new weather pattern is in place in New England today with drier and cooler air for this weekend and into next week. A chilly rain affected us this morning while Northern New England enjoyed a few snowflakes- Mount Snow reported their first snow of the season.

Most rain showers will be gone this evening as high pressure moves in behind the cold front. Clouds will move out and the breeze will be light, allowing for temperatures tonight to take a plunge as some spots drop into the mid-30s, hence the frost advisory that has been issued until 9 a.m. Sunday for towns west of the I-95 and across southern New Hampshire. If you have any vegetation sensitive to cold temperatures, bring them indoors.

Sunday we wake up to frost on grassy surfaces and perhaps your windshield but expect a warm up by the afternoon under a mostly sunny sky. Sunday should be a classic, brisk fall day, but with plenty of sunshine and not much wind, with highs around 60.

Fall temperatures – near normal for this time of the year – linger through most of the remainder of the 10-day forecast with disturbances sparking showers on Monday early afternoon and night, then perhaps again Wednesday and Saturday of next week.
