An area of low pressure continues to pass to our north and that is why our weather is unsettled today. Northern New England will continue to see showers taper off with nearly steady temperatures through Saturday morning. Southern New England will see scattered downpours and a rumble of thunder this evening and early tonight as the cold front pushes southeastward.

By Saturday morning, we all dry off and the sunshine breaks out. Highs will soar into the 60s, 50s north, and even 60s along the coast with a more dominant northwest breeze keeping the seabreeze from developing in most coastal communities. It is a really fantastic start to the weekend, and we may luck out for Mother's Day with a shift in the rain track.

We are threading the needle between a dry and rainy Sunday. Northern New England will be dry with high pressure in control. A system passes south Sunday, bringing a shield of rain across southern New England. Plan on a few showers in the morning, a break in the afternoon, then more showers filling in overnight across the south. Although most of the day will be dry with temperatures in the upper 50s south, 60s north under the sunshine, have the umbrella handy in case the track shifts. We will keep you updated on the rain chance all weekend-long.

Our unsettled weather pattern continues next week thanks to blocking high pressure across the north Atlantic. More waves of rain develop along little disturbances that track across or very close to New England. We will be positioned to the north of this boundary so cool air dominates.

Highs in the 40s are possible Monday and Tuesday with scattered rain. We have a break in the rain Wednesday, then a cold front may pass through Thursday into Friday. Highs rebound by the end of our 10-day forecast to the 60s. Next weekend, could be a tad warmer and not too soggy. Stay tuned!
