Snow Moves Out, Sun Moves in Ahead of Spring-Like Weather

It was a quick shot of winter Saturday night, but it’s right back to more spring-like weather for the rest of Sunday.

Snowfall totals were generally in the 3-6” range in Southern New England, with lower totals in far Northern New England. There was an area from New Hampshire into Maine, however, that received totals closer to 8”. That exceeded expectations.

That snow will be melting today with sunshine and highs in the 40s for many. A gusty wind will also blow out of the northwest, so stay alert for snow falling off the trees and power lines.

Some of the melt will re-freeze tonight as lows drop into the teens and 20s for many. That may create a few slick spots.

Early sun on Monday will give way to more clouds by afternoon, along with some spotty showers. Highs will be in the 40s to near 50 for many, with 30s farther north.

Tuesday is even warmer, with 50s and 60s for most of New England with a mix of sun and clouds. Clouds will be more numerous in Northern New England where we’ll have some 40s and 50s along with continued spotty showers.

Wednesday is the warmest day of all, approaching records in Southern New England as highs cruise into the 60s and even near 70. The mountains will still be a bit cooler with more clouds and a few spot showers.

With the continued melting in Northern New England, and the shower chances this week, the risk of ice jam flooding does exist. We’ll keep a close watch on that.

It turns cooler, but still stays above average late week. Highs will be in the 40s for most.
