Sunny Breaks as Clouds Stick Around on Seasonable Day

After a frosty start, temperatures for our Saturday will rebound into the 40s for most locations. We’ll see some sunny breaks, but the clouds will likely stick around through this evening.

It's a great day for those High School Football Super Bowl games at Gillette Stadium through the day.

Overnight tonight, we’ll see mostly cloudy skies to start with a partial clearing sliding into western New England by Sunday morning.

Lows are expected in the low to mid 30s south, and near freezing to upper 20s north. Sunday’s high temperatures rebound back into the mid 40s under plentiful sunshine making this weekend great for any outdoor plans, especially if you are planning on putting up the Christmas lights or putting up other holiday decorations around your yard.

Plus, we’ll see just a light breeze for both days.

Don’t forget to look out for the Supermoon Sunday evening after sunset. The Supermoon occurs when the Moon is at its closest distance to Earth in its orbit. This also correlates with December’s first full moon, commonly known as the “Cold” Moon. Monday morning at 4 a.m. will be when the moon is at its closest distance at a little over 222,000 miles away.

If you miss this Supermoon, don’t fret, we’ll have two full moons in January, which will both be Supermoons, too!

Monday starts the week off on a pleasant note before the next system that is forming to our west slides in by Tuesday afternoon. Get ready for the umbrellas as we’re tracking rain with some pockets of downpours possible.

Not only are we tracking rain, we’re also tracking a warm-up ahead of the cold front that sweeps through by Thursday.

Tuesday and Wednesday should see high temperatures in the 50s, with Wednesday’s observed high registered in the early morning as temperatures fall through the day.

We could even see some mountain snow showers on the backside of this system by late Wednesday into early Thursday, so be mindful of that for any of your travels midweek.

The colder air settles in just in time for Friday and sticks around all next weekend with highs in the 30s south, and a few places in the 20s north! With the cold, we could also see the possibility of snow showers late Friday into Saturday, which could get as far south as the Massachusetts/New Hampshire stateline, but we are keeping an eye on that through the week.
