Sunshine Returns Today, Cooler with Periods of Rain Sunday

It was a rainy Friday evening, but that quick-moving system is already clearing the area for today.

The first half of the weekend features a warm-up under a mix of sun and clouds by the afternoon with highs near 70 south, 60s north.

A few instability showers are possible in far northern New England, otherwise a dry and mild day to start off the weekend.

A cold front swings in Saturday night. The leading edge of colder air, clashing with the warmer air, will bring showers with a few downpours late Saturday night into early Sunday.

Highs on Sunday only stretch into the upper 50s under mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers. The system that may bring rain Sunday lingers into Monday, spurring up clouds, a few showers, and the coldest day of the work week with highs in the mid to upper 50s.

Tuesday, we’ll see some breaks of sun by the afternoon and highs stretching into the mid to upper 60s with the warm-up continuing through Wednesday and Thursday before a sweeping cold front brings a chance for thunderstorms and cooler conditions late Thursday into early Friday. Highs by Wednesday will bring the spring weather we’ve been missing with temperatures into the mid to upper 70s, with a few areas touching 80.
