Warm and Muggy Ahead of Dramatic Drop in Temperatures on Sunday

Scattered showers, downpours and thunderstorms will continue to drift through northern New England

It’s another warm, muggy day across much of Southern New England with highs soaring into the 80s. Some towns will even near 90 by day’s end. It’s also more humid than Friday.

In Northern New England clouds are more numerous, and scattered showers, downpours, and thunderstorms will continue to drift through. This is in association with a cold front.

That front will continue to sag south during the day today, reaching Southern New Hampshire, the Merrimack Valley, and the North Shore late day. That will bring some scattered showers and storms into those areas, and it will quickly drop temperatures as it arrives.

The front sweeps through for the rest of us overnight as winds turn to the east, and clouds fill in. Showers will continue to break out as well.

We’re stuck in an east wind all day Sunday with lots of clouds and periods of showers and drizzle. Most of the rain will be light, but it’ll be a gloomy day. Highs only manage the 50s to near 60.

Timeline, Expectations for Memorial Day Weekend Weather

Monday isn’t quite as dreary, with highs in the 60s to near 70. We’ll still have lots of clouds, but most of the day will be dry. Expect just a few spotty showers here or there.

Beautiful weather returns for the middle of next week, before some tropical moisture tries to approach late in the week.
