Warmer Temperatures to Return in Coming Days

It’s now October and after a cool start this morning, temperatures will warm into the 70s and 80s in the upcoming days.

Belin, New Hampshire, dropped to 28 degrees and both St. Johnsbury, Vermont, and Springfield, Massachusettsm dropped to the freezing mark. High temperatures on our Monday will be “average” – mid-high 60s to around 70 degrees.

As high pressure settles to the east of New England we will see a west to southwest wind. With that wind direction, temperatures will climb into the 70s and even low 80s. Most of the next several days will be dry.

A strong cold front will be moving east late week. Shower chances will increase late Thursday and Friday.

It’s interesting to note that September finished with above average rainfall in Boston. Up until the last couple days of the month, the city was running a deficit.

Year-to-date, there is still a widespread 1-2” surplus across New England. However, it is becoming increasingly dry for other parts of New England.

Although some areas experienced very heavy rain last Saturday, not all areas saw that. Aside from a few showers, Worcester didn’t receive much rain. They finished the month with a deficit of nearly 1.5”.
