When to See This Weekend's Full Hunter's Moon

Clouds will likely obscure the view on Saturday, especially near the coast, but expect better conditions on Sunday

The full Hunter’s Moon will make an appearance in the New England sky this weekend.

To the naked eye the moon will appear full Saturday through Monday, even though it is officially full on Sunday.

Each of those nights, look for the moon to rise over the eastern horizon around sunset.

Clouds will likely obscure the view on Saturday, especially near the coast, but expect better conditions on Sunday.

Each full moon gets a name, and typically that name is assigned by month.

The Hunter’s Moon is a little different, happening either during October or November.

The month in which it appears is determined by the Harvest Moon, which is the full moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox.

The Hunter’s Moon is the first full moon after that Harvest Moon.
