Always read the fine print in your owner’s manual; that’s what one of our viewers did, but it wasn’t enough to convince a major automaker that his car should be repaired for free. When the engine blew on Jim McCollum’s old car in June, he bought a used 2006 Volkswagen Jetta. It was in good shape but had rusty fenders. When Jim realized the car had a 12-year warranty that covers rust damage, he contacted a local VW dealer to have it fixed, but his claim was denied. He contacted NBC Boston Responds for help.
