When parents in the small town of Croydon realized their school budget was cut in half, they were in shock. “It was traumatic, to say the least,” one mother said. They blamed Free Staters for the cut – after one Free Stater proposed it and another was the Chair of the School Board. In efforts to try to overturn the decision, concerned Croydon residents and parents organized a special meeting for a redo vote.
