$11.5M Awarded Across Massachusetts for Dam and Seawall Projects

We’ve been in kind of a storm-free pattern, which is good because there is work that needs to be done along our coastlines. Meteorologist Michael Page is in Weymouth where he says cleanup on the South Shore continues from the blizzard we had a couple of weeks ago.  The seawall there is very old, from the 1950s, which is why the Massachusetts Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs is awarding $1.6 million in funding to that stretch of seawall in Weymouth, to enhance it, to build it back up, and make sure it is secure against future storms.  The seawalls deteriorate from the inside out when the salt gets in them. It’s not just Weymouth getting funding. The state is giving more than $11 million in funding to towns across the Commonwealth to rebuild seawalls. Another spot receiving funding is Brant Rock in Marshfield.
