Beverly Mass. Bus Driver Who Left Kindergartner Alone on Bus Faces Criminal Charges

NBC10 Boston’s Jonathan Choe spoke exclusively to the Hyso family. The parents say their child was left alone in a bus. The 5-year-old boy managed to get out and and ended up running into the side of a moving car.

Police in Massachusetts say a school bus driver who left a 5-year-old boy alone on a bus for several hours may face criminal charges.

Beverly Chief John LeLacheur says he is consulting with the district attorney to determine if charges should be filed. The Salem News reports that police noted 71-year-old driver David Boutros disregarded protocols when he didn't check for children on the bus.

Boutros could not be reached for comment and has been suspended from his job pending further investigation.

Redona Hyso said she brought her son, Ian, to the bus stop Friday. Ian told his mother he forgot to get off the bus at his school.

Ian later ran into a car trying to walk home and suffered bruises.
