MBTA Transit Police are investigating a stabbing that happened on a bus in Boston. A suspect is in custody.

A person was stabbed on an MBTA bus in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood Thursday, transit police said. A suspect is in custody.

The victim is expected to survive the incident, according to the MBTA Transit Police.

A large police presence was seen around the Route 28 bus on Blue Hill Avenue near Seaver Street around 5 p.m. Aerial footage showed police cruisers around a bus.

Boston police said they were assisting MBTA Transit Police for a report of a stabbing on a bus.

Passengers were shaken by the violence in broad daylight.

"...you think you're in a safe place like a bus, with a lot of people around, with cameras around, there's the bus driver..." one man shared.

MBTA police didn't provide more information, including what they suspect took place in the stabbing.

The incident remains under investigation.
