The front that brought rain and gusty winds overnight has moved out and behind it, a mass of drier air with lots of sunshine will be revealed.
Highs will rise into the upper 50s but with the breeze, it will feel like the 40s all day long. Tuesday night, temperatures drop into the 30s over the foothills while it will remain in the 40s near the coast.
Another cold front arrives Wednesday afternoon, increasing the clouds and a chance for isolated showers for Northern and Western New England during the day and at night. This prompts a risk for snow showers towards the higher elevations.
This front will bring in the coolest air of the young-lived fall season, as highs will struggle to reach 50 degrees. So come Thursday, temperatures will be 20 degrees below average. This may also spell multiple frosts – or even freezes - by the week’s end, indicating an end to the growing season.
To put this into perspective, these highs are more typical of early December. This unseasonably chilly air won’t last long, temperatures rebound by Friday under mostly sunny conditions.
