Fallen Police Officers Remembered at Event in Mattapan

More than 100 people gathered to remember fallen and deceased members of the Boston Police Department at an event in Mattapan on Sunday.

Family members and loved ones gathered to remember fallen and deceased Boston police officers whose watch has ended at Mount Hope Cemetery in Mattapan on Sunday.

The Memorial Day event drew more than 100 people, where after a roll call of the deceased, remarks were made by Boston Police Commissioner William Gross and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh.

"They served not only the Commonwealth, but this city well," Gross said.

Mayor Walsh's message centered around cherishing the memories of those who had served.

"That's why all of the officers listed in today's program will always be heroes to their families," Walsh said. "And they will always be heroes to our city."

The event was sponsored by the Boston Police Relief Association.
