Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, are using heavy machinery to search an area behind a U-Haul facility.
Human remains were found Thursday following an FBI investigation in Methuen, Massachusetts.
The bureau's Boston office confirmed that the remains were recovered around 4:15 p.m. in the back of a property on Milk Street. FBI, state police and local police began searching the area Wednesday morning.
The Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will work to identify the remains and conduct a DNA analysis.
Several sources told NBC10 Boston Wednesday that the investigation was tied to the search for a missing man from Manchester, New Hampshire.
No other details are being released at this time, the FBI said, but they said there is no threat to public safety.
